Farmer dies in fall from tractor

A fruit grower has died after falling from a tractor while driving in steep terrain at Red Hill on Tuesday.

It is understood the 84-year-old man was spraying an orchard using a trailer sprayer weighing about 3.5 tonne when he lost control of the tractor while descending a hill.

WorkSafe is investigating.

The death is the 30th confirmed workplace fatality and the sixth in the agriculture industry for 2024. There were 56 work-related deaths at the same time last year.
