Cropping farmer, Scott Arnold, wanted to improve safety on his farm but was overwhelmed with where to start. By making safety improvements to his property, he sleeps better at night knowing that his done everything he can to keep his workers safe.

 

It's never you, until it is

As part of WorkSafe’s ‘It’s never you, until it is’ campaign, Scott shared his experience with safety on farm. He encourages farmers and workers to engage in conversations around health and safety and share safety tips with each other.

Safety on farms

Scott wanted to improve the safety on his farm but was overwhelmed with where to start. He joined one of WorkSafe’s agriculture safety learning network to help him with his journey. Further to this, as part of Work Safe’s targeted preventive inspections in the area, Scott had a visit from a WorkSafe inspector, Will Neville, who helped him with safety improvements on his farm.

Fatigue

Fatigue impairs reaction times, concentration, and the ability to think clearly and control moods. Scott shares his strategies and processes that he has on his farm with his workers to manage fatigue.

Often people are working alone on farms in Victoria. You may not be able to avoid working alone on a farm. Scott shares his tips and strategies to stay safe while working alone on his farm.
