Workplace death toll at highest level in eight years
Victoria s work-related death toll is at the highest point for this time of the year since 2001. It s prompted WorkSafe to call on employers and workers to take a zero-tolerance approach to safety issues in the last six weeks of the year.

Dandenong business guilty of failing injured worker
Concrete panel supplier, The Precast Company, pleaded guilty in the Dandenong Magistrates Court on Friday 13 November to failing to provide an injured worker with suitable employment as required under Victoria The Court heard that the injured worker was employed as a crane operator when he suffered a crush injury to his finger.

Company director and firm convicted and fined $815,000
A company director has been convicted and fined $65,000 for workplace health and safety breaches relating to his failure to ensure workers were properly trained and supervised. It is the first time a company director has been sentenced in the County Court under section 144 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004.

Court action to resume after High Court win for WorkSafe

West Gate Bridge collapse anniversary takes fourth life in nine days
A construction worker died today after being struck on the head by a hose from a concrete pump at the former Pentridge Prison at Coburg. The 46-year-old Greensborough man was smoothing concrete when a concrete pump slipped sidewards when supports sunk into the ground.
